How you learn

Work placements

You’ll be actively encouraged and supported to take up a placement year – either nationally or internationally. Many students do a placement each year – gaining experience with corporations in locations such as New York, California, Florida, Dubai, Australia, Hong Kong and the Maldives. You can also study a language, and you’re offered a chance to study at a European university for either a year or semester – with the possibility of funding through the Erasmus+ programme (until 2023) or the Turing Scheme.

Networking opportunities

As a student in our Sheffield Business School, you’ll benefit from being part of a vibrant community – as well as the student-led Business and Management Society for peer support and networking opportunities. We also pay for you to be a Student Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management during your course – giving you access to their resources and networking events, and helping you build up your LinkedIn contacts for your career ahead.

All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.

The course is delivered using a variety of teaching techniques. You’re assessed using a mixture of innovative coursework tasks and exams.

You learn through

  • traditional academic-led lectures
  • case-study based workshops
  • an experimental way of learning
